Ron has been making art for over 15 years.

Having lived in Central Washington for almost 10 years, Ron has been drawn to process oriented art that takes inspiration and supplies from the natural world that first drew him to the Pacific Northwest.

From the Earth

Every material that goes into this work is sourced through the lens of sustainability.

Ethically Harvested Ponderosa Pine Needles

The valley where Ron lives in the PNW is brimming with beautiful long-needled Ponderosa Pines! Stray needles on the ground already need to be collected as part of fire remediation, so he keep his eye around properties he has permission to roam. Needles that aren’t already on the ground are taken from trees that have been thinned for forest health.

Organic Food Grade Vegetable Glycerin

Outside of fruit, bread, or wrapped consumables, these baskets are not intended to hold food. However, the little contact or transfer from the needles to your hands shouldn’t worry you. It’s both organic and food grade!

Ethically Sourced Hand-made Ceramic Beads

Unlike the the other ceramic part of the process, Ron does not make these beads himself. Instead, all beads are sourced from the wonderful Papillion Marketplace, which provides long-term careers for Haitian artisans who are mothers and fathers.

Natural Waxed Linen Thread

This 3-ply waxed linen thread is sourced wholesale from a small business out of Ohio. While synthetic thread my be cheaper, it neither holds the coils together properly nor is a long term good for the environment.

Hand-made Ceramic bases.

All ceramic disks and bases are hand-mode by Ron through the Grunewald Guild’s pottery Open Studio.

Hand-Woven Basket Coils

Each stitch is made by hand, which is a time committed process.
